What is an AHA ACLS Instructor?
An ACLS Instructor is a certified healthcare professional trained and authorized by the American Heart Association to teach and evaluate ACLS Provider courses. These courses prepare healthcare providers to respond to cardiac arrest, stroke, and other cardiovascular emergencies with high-level clinical skills and team leadership.
As an AHA ACLS Instructor, you'll teach students how to:

- Recognize and manage respiratory and cardiac emergencies
- Interpret EKGs and identify lethal arrhythmias

Requirements to Become an AHA ACLS Instructor:
- Hold a current AHA ACLS Provider certification
(Must be valid and demonstrate strong clinical understanding.)
- Hold a current AHA BLS Provider certification
(Since BLS is the foundation of ACLS, proficiency in BLS is required.)
- Align with an AHA-Authorized Training Center (TC)
(This organization will mentor, monitor, and issue certification cards for your students.)
- Complete the AHA ACLS Instructor Essentials Course (online)
(Covers AHA instructional guidelines, adult learning strategies, and course policies.)
- Attend an Instructor-Led ACLS Instructor Course Session
(You’ll demonstrate teaching skills, clinical knowledge, and how to facilitate simulations.)
- Be monitored teaching your first ACLS class within 6 months
(Ensures readiness and quality of instruction before teaching independently.)
